David Air, Dr Benjamin Attlee

Dr Benjamin Attlee is the protagonist at the heart of "The Poison of Grapefruit," an arrogant but compelling character with a personality somewhere between Hannibal Lecter and Martin Shkreli; as another character says, “Attlee treats every human interaction as a kind of bloodsport." His prickly personality makes him both alienating and strangely mesmerizing: we miss him when he’s not on the screen.

Amanda Viola, Esterline Dray

Esterline Dray suffers from Catatonic Schizophrenia, and her recovery is the central event of "The Poison of Grapefruit"; in the course of her treatment by a psychiatrist, Esterline gradually emerges from her silence, and as she begins to speak she reveals the abuse that led to her condition. This is a role that highlights the actor’s range, in being able to play a catatonic patient just beginning to re-learn the use of speech. The portrayal of Esterline Gray is at the heart of the audience’s investment in this story.

Lisa Roumain

Judge Macy Collins
Judge Macy Collins is a central character in this courtroom drama, a tough adversary for the movie’s protagonist, who confronts the Judge in a bizarre opening showdown; her tough professionalism gives way to a very human reaction, and it is this confrontation with the film's protagonist that gives the film its electricity.

Nakia Jewel Williams
Anna Lake
Anna Lake is Attlee's lawyer, doing a quietly professional job in defending a volatile convict against insurmountable odds; Anna Lake has real depth of character, and in her opening scene we see both her intelligence and her discomfort in having to defend a man who appears to be guilty of a heinous crime.

Timothy Haug
Officer Beckett
Officer Beckett is a relatively inexperienced police officer, and as he escorts Attlee towards the courtroom, Attlee’s constant trash-talking finally push Beckett over the edge. The two get into a heated exchange, and this volatile argument against a high-stakes backdrop is our first introduction to the movie’s quick-fire pace and tension.
